چکیده

This paper investigates the application of artificial neural network structures to the problem of nonlinear channel equalization. The difficulties caused by channel distortions such us inter symbol interference (ISI) and nonlinearities can be overcome by equalizers employing neural networks. We present a structure of a nonlinear equalizer with decision feedback using multilayer perceptron (MLP DFE) which is trained by means of the back propagation algorithm. We compare its performance with a conventional decision feedback equaliser (DFE). Simulation results show that the performances of the MLP DFE surpass significantly the classical DFE in term of signal equalised and the steady state mean square error (MSE) attainable. The conventional DFE perform poorly on the nonlinear channel whereas the MLP DFE provide more advanced solution for the nonlinear equalisation problem, the consistency in performance is observed in nonlinear channels.

Adaptive channel equalisation using a polynomial-perceptron structure - Communications, Speech and Vision, IEE Proceedings I

The paper investigates the application of a simple nonlinear structure to the problem of adaptive channel equalisation. Based on the Bayes decision rule, it is shown that the optimal equalisation solution is an inherently nonlinear problem and, therefore, it is desired to incorporate some degree of nonlinearity in the design of equaliser structure. The approximate realisation of the optimal equ...

Robot control system using SMR signals detection

One of the important issues in designing a brain-computer interface system is to select the type of mental activity to be imagined. In some of these systems, mental activity varies with user intent and action that must be controlled by the brain-computer system, and in a number of other signals, the received signals contain the same activity-related mental activity that should be performed by t...
